It’s amazing how people drop into a service at the Minster because they hear our bells. The Minster has a peal of 10 bells rung by a dedicated group of Bell-ringers. Bell practice is on a Tuesday evening. at 7.45 p.m, and they are looking for people to join. The bells are rung on a Sunday before the 10.30 a.m. Eucharist as a call to prayer.

  1. My great uncle, Sidney Farrington, is commemorated on the memorial to fallen bellringers at Stoke Minster. My husband and I ring at Holy Trinity Church, Cookham, Berks, and we have recently taken part in a quarter peal to honour the death of a Cookham ringer who was killed at the Battle of the Somme almost exactly 100 years ago. I wondered if there was any plan to commemorate the deaths of the Stoke servicemen who died in World War 1? If there was, I would be very interested in coming to Stoke to listen. Sidney Farrington was killed on 10 June 2018.
